How Syntara handles your data
This notice covers the Syntara website, the web app at syntaratechnology.com/app and the Syntara apps for Android and iPhone. Last updated 19 October 2026.
Who we are
Syntara provides AI accounting software for small businesses in Singapore. We handle personal data in line with Singapore’s Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA). For any privacy question or request, email support@syntaratechnology.com.
What we collect
- Account details: your name, email address and password (stored only as a secure hash by our sign-in provider).
- Company and accounting data you add: company details (name, UEN, address, GST number, PayNow ID), customers and suppliers, products, invoices, quotes, bills, expense claims, bank statement lines and the journal entries Syntara creates.
- Files and photos you upload: receipts, bills, invoices, bank statements and other documents, including photos taken with the in-app camera.
- Messages to Syntara AI: questions you type in the assistant and the replies.
- Notification settings: if you turn on notifications, a push token for your device.
- Basic technical data: server logs (such as IP address and browser type) used for security and to fix problems.
We do not collect your location, contacts or advertising identifiers, we do not show ads, and we do not sell personal data.
How we use it
- To run the service: keep your books, read your documents with AI, create and email invoices, quotes and reminders, and send the notifications you ask for.
- To keep accounts secure and prevent misuse.
- To answer your support requests.
AI processing
When you upload a document or ask Syntara AI a question, the relevant content is sent to Anthropic’s Claude API to produce the result. It is processed only to provide that feature, under Anthropic’s commercial terms, which do not allow it to be used to train their models. You always review AI suggestions before they are posted to your books.
Who processes data for us
| Provider | What for |
|---|---|
| Supabase | Database, file storage and sign-in |
| Netlify | Website and app hosting, server functions |
| Anthropic | AI reading of documents and the assistant |
| Google (Workspace / Gmail) | Sending invoice, quote, reminder and account emails |
| Google Firebase, Apple | Delivering push notifications to phones |
These providers may store or process data outside Singapore. We use them only to provide the service and require them to protect it to a standard comparable to the PDPA. Exchange rates are fetched from the European Central Bank’s public reference rates; no personal data is sent.
Who can see your company’s data
Only people you add to your company in Syntara. Staff you invite as “staff” see only their own expense claims. Customers you email receive the invoice, quote or reminder you send them. With your permission, Syntara support may join your company to help with a problem; this shows in your notifications and you can remove us any time in Settings.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest by our hosting providers. Access to each company’s data is enforced in the database itself, so one company can never see another’s.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account is active, so your books stay complete. You may need to keep business records for at least 5 years under Singapore law, so please export what you need before deleting. When you delete your account, we delete your data within 30 days, apart from what we must keep by law and backups, which expire on their normal cycle.
Your choices and rights
- See and correct your data at any time in the app.
- Ask for a copy of your personal data, or ask us to delete your account and data: see Delete your account.
- Withdraw consent, or turn notifications off, in Settings → This phone.
Children
Syntara is a business tool for adults and is not intended for anyone under 18.
